Through its beautiful songs and many-colored sounds, Minaswing brings to Japan and the world the musical treasures of Minas Gerais, Brazil.  The group's members include two Minas Gerais natives, one American and three Japanese, all well-known on Japan's Brazilian music scene.  Founded in Tokyo in early 2002, the group has already attracted a large following.  On April 26, 2003 Minaswing released its debut CD Beautiful Horizon, featuring original compositions and songs by Milton Nascimento and others.

A few reviews of MINASWING and their first CD Beautiful Horizon . . .

"Gentle modern bossa -- and a sweet little album from a group that's got ties
to Lisa Ono!  The ensemble's made up of Japanese, American, and Brazilian players -- and the overall feel of the record is somewhere in that sweet San Francisco 70s take on Brazilian jazz -- a wonderful blend of samba and bossa-influenced rhythms, with some lightly jazzy playing that expands the sound..."  - Dusty Groove America

"To my good friends in Minaswing  - you are a voice singing a beautiful song, wrapped in many-colored sounds, and within me a new treasure is formed.  Bringing this feeling to all... this magnificent feeling..."  - Lisa Ono, Japan's most acclaimed Bossa Nova artist,
from the CD liner notes

"Beautiful Horizon swings with innovative arrangements and captivating performances."
- Egídio Leitão, MusicaBrasileira.org website   (To read the review, click here.)

"They are the best Brazilian band in Tokyo and a delight to hear."
- Michael Pronko, Jazz Critic for the Japan Times   (To read the review, click here.)
